STOs are omnivores. In the wild, they eat a large variety diet that includes insects, fruits, vegetables, and grains. There are not many insectivore commercial diets that are well balanced. Hedgehog Precision and fresh mixed food works best daily.
Some favorite foods that should be included throughout their week include: scrambled egg, cooked chicken, yogurt, baby foods, fresh fruits, live superworms, live dubia roaches.
STOs dehydrate quickly and should have fresh clean water provided to them at all times.
STOs enjoy running on wheels! It should be a solid surface running wheel of 12+ inches. They should also have time climb and forage. STOs are nocturnal and are most active at night.
Like many other mammals, they clean themselves and can be quite tidy. Using a pet wipe can be an option if they get dirty. Bathes should be avoided. They may also enjoy using sand baths while supervised.
